Recording using the boss rc-2 looper?
i’m using the loopstation and a roland microcube amp. As I cant record and overdub distorted guitar onto a clean progression since the looper is basically recording an unplugged guitar and the distortion is added by the amp models on the microcube, will it work to put a distortion pedal in line before the loopstation and then play it through the amp on a clean channel? I have worked out that i can record a clean progression, unplug the looper and plug it into the Aux in port on the amp so it bypasses the onboard FX but then you cant record any overdubs. Any ideas???
You’re on the right track. Yes, it will work with a distortion effects pedal.
GUITAR –> Distortion Effect Pedal –> RC-2 Looper –> Amp
It should also work as …
GUITAR –> Amp (Aux Output) –> (Aux Input jack) RC-2 Looper –> (FX Return) Amp
That is assuming you have an FX Return Input jack and Aux Output jack on that Amp.
You can also try this but, make sure you read the RC-2 manual and specs before hand and know whether that RC-2 can handle the output from the Headphone port on your amplifier by checking the specs on the amp.
GUITAR –> Amp (headphone jack) –> (Aux Input jack) RC-2 –> External powered speaker system such as a studio monitor or other guitar amplifier.
