can u help me to match malmsteen tone?
i have a stratocaster and roland(micro cube)amp and yjm DOD 308 pedal
but the sound still different ,,what else i have 2 get
Done listen to the guy who told you to get your own sound. I am picky when I redo songs that I want it to sound as good as the original or better by matching the sound first.
To match him look around online to see what effects he uses. Learn to use tone and volume to your advantage and stop maxing out volume and tone on your guitar like kurt cobain. (That is a starter guitarist’s worse problom and bad habbit.)
Second of all just play with tone and mid and bass to get the right balance. Now everything you hear on the TV or Radio does not sound the same in real life because speakers tend to give off noise not sound. What I mean by noise is provide their own distortion to the volume levels.
Practice and keep in tune. Then also learn his picking styles.
I wouldn’t suggest you make it your own style to play like him. But to redo his songs for kicks and for fun. Go for it.

No, I don’t do cover songs I write my own music. I just am picky with what Music I want my guitar(s) to play. Kurt Cobain in my opinion did not creat noise he created music. For being lame I guess 14 years of playing guitar does not equal to the infanate wisdom of a person who most likely opened for local shows and never record his own music… Yes I record and when it comes to recording mimic and prefection is key to get record deals and sales.
