Learn to Play Guitar And Not Get Ripped Off
Basic Guide to Guitar Lessons
This article will expose what to look for when choosing a guitar course or lessons that are advertised on the internet. As you may already know there are many courses out there and which one do you choose? I am going to list specific pointers that hopefully will guide you on the right path and save you time and money as you start out as a guitar player. Making a right choice is very very crucial as you begin to learn playing guitar.
You are RIGHT in your approach to select a guitar tutoring course that is available on the internet. It is the perfect medium to caress through as many options that are available both online and offline. But at the bottom-line you will have two choices to choose from:
An online course or an offline one?
The internet is now filled with lots of options for the student guitar player looking for tuitions. Before the advent of the internet students had only one option and that was to physically travel to the tutors home or place of work. With all these options now available it is far easier to make costly mistakes in choosing the right or importantly wrong set of lessons or course.
Before making your decision on which type of course to go for I would put forward the merits and demerits of both the above options as it will definitely help you in your taking your final decision. We’ll start with ONLINE guitar courses.
Online Guitar Lessons or Courses
What do we mean by an online guitar course? An online guitar course is a series of guitar lessons that are conducted purely over the internet where you can either download the guitar lessons or view them as they are streaming. The problem with these types of courses is that the quality tends not to be as good as hard copy (DVD) type courses and if you do not have a super fast internet connection then they can take even light years to download to get real good quality lessons.
Another consideration is to go for guitar lessons you can archive easily. This is quite easy with say a course of lessons on DVD but not as easy with online lessons. Having an archive of easily accessible material is a MUST HAVE for any course. You must be able to put your hands on a particular part of the course instantly in order to refer back should you need to at a later date. Also look for a REAL address and telephone number which confirms legitimate and trustworthy company. DO NOT go for a course that just lists a PO Box and no telephone number.
Offline Guitar Lessons or Courses
What are offline guitar lessons?
Offline guitar lessons or guitar courses are usually conducted by a live tutor. The tutor may come to your home but most conduct their lessons from either their place of work or home charging a fee for their services. Here there are two problems. The first being GOOD guitar tutors are like trying to find a needle in a haystack, they are very few and far between. You can end up changing tutors every month or so which does no good whatsoever. Finding the right tutor who suits you in your area can be a real nightmare and sometimes almost impossible depending on where you live.
Most live guitar tutors in my opinion will only give you just enough information to keep you coming back and charge you as much as they can get away with to keep you. Not the best scenario
Here are some disadvantages of going for regular guitar lessons.
* Having regular live guitar lessons brings up another problem. You have to have your lesson at a predetermined time and place meaning the rest of your day has to work around it.
* Your tutor may not necessarily be into the type of music you love to play which means that you will not enjoy your lessons as much as you could, which in turn means that your learning will not progress as quickly as it should.
* If a question pops up while practicing what you have learned, you will need to wait until the next lesson to get it answered and if that’s a week away it’s a long time to wait if you are keen to progress. Ideally you need your questions answering now…
People in general feel nervous when playing back a piece in front of their tutor and generally make some mistakes through their nervousness. This is a fact. They feel much more at home and play at their best in their own surroundings with no one watching over them…
So Where Does That Leave YOU?
Do not fear! There is an alternative to both these methods yet in builds both.
The only alternative and the best alternative in my opinion is to use a system that encompasses both methods. Here it is: You order your product over the internet allowing you to shop around WORLDWIDE. You order your course of guitar lessons on hard copy DVD that is delivered direct to your door. The DVD’s will be of very high quality, you will have an instant archive of material you can refer back to over an over again, and the lessons will be in a chronological order giving step by step lessons all by the same tutor.
So if this is my recommendation, which course do you choose???
If you take my advice which I hope you do, then the lessons MUST meet the following criteria:
* A FAST Structured Progression that is VERY EASY to follow and understand.
* A course of lessons created by someone who has a vast experience in the music industry, is a professional (gets paid for playing the guitar and hasn’t got a job on the side), knows what he is doing and is not some whiz kid who has learned the guitar, played for about 3-4 years and trying to cash in and make a fast money.
* A course where you can participate whole heartedly, in a nice relaxed environment with no pressure put upon you, helping you to progress at lightning pace because you are in a cool, relaxed frame of mind.
* A course of lessons that you know you CAN afford and you know will be great value for money ensuring you will not get RIPPED off.
* A Solid, Cast Iron, No Questions Asked, FULL Money Back Guarantee. Just ask your guitar tutor for your money back once he has given you your lesson! It’s not repeatable what he will say!!!
* A course of lessons that does not beat around the bush and gives you what you are looking for straight out of the tin bringing you on as fast as possible…
* Lessons that you can refer back to over and over again that will inspire and get you motivated with audio, video, illustrations and downloadable teaching aids.
* All the Fast Track Short Cuts That the Professionals do not want you to know.
If there is another piece of advice I can give you it would be this:
Decide on a course of guitar lessons and once you have received the first two or three lessons, make sure you are happy with them then stick with it using the SAME tutor as you will get tuned into the guitar tutors methods of teaching and won’t be flipping from one set of lessons to the next, one tutor to the next and getting nowhere.
I hope you have found this article informative and I will be posting more in the future on how to take the novice Guitar players to the level of being an EXPERT player in the shortest possible time.
