what do i need to start my pedal board?
Hello, im gonna start buying some pedals for my guitar and i really dont know where to start. there are alot of cool effects and pedals out there but since i dont have the money to go out and buy 7 or 8 pedals i need to start with buying myself 3 basic ones, i already know i want/need a wah (im getting a dunlop cry baby) but that is about it, so my question is where should i start, overdrive?, chorus?, a flanger?, a phaser?, delay? reverb? i play mostly classic rock so i wanna be able to play some zeppelin or some rolling stones as well as guns n roses or even some iron maiden, thanks for the help
Multi-effects is a good way to understand what different effects do without spending a lot of money, but I just don’t like most multi-effects. To me every guitarist needs distortion and reverb. If your amp has neither of these effects then I’d start there and not worry about any other effect until you actually need it for a particular song or tone you are after. I use nothing but reverb and distortion/overdrive. Of course I get both of those out of my Boogie with no pedals which is great. When I started playing I was a total pedal whore, I had a pedal for everything. Now that I have matured a little as a player my only pedal is a Polytune pedal tuner.
