How Graduate Students can Make Decorative Tassels
All graduation ceremonies are full of tradition, whether it is elementary, high school, or university graduation. One of the most important and symbolic things on a graduation ceremony is your graduation tassels. Graduation tassels have been popular over the years to hand on the rear-view mirror of the car, and it is also having a momentous significant as students flip their tassels from the right side to the left side. This symbolic figure is very easy to make that’s why it can be a great decoration for your graduation party.
- First you have to decide for the length of your fringe. You have to carefully decide the length of the tassel according to your need. You can use different length of graduation tassels if you want. Consider the place or the spot where you want to hang the graduation tassels on deciding about the length of the fringe.
- Look for a book or cardboard. If you decided to have a cardboard cut it into your desired length. You have to make a loop using the string around the book or the cardboard. You have to loop the string at least six times. To create a nice graduation tassel.
- After that, make sure cut the end of the string. You have to carefully take away the loop from the cardboard or loop. All you have to do is to tape loop into the surface of the book or the cardboard. This is done to prevent the loop from unwinding. This can make your graduation tassels stable.
- Next, you have to cut the string according to the length that you need for your graduation tassels. Ensure that you double the length that you desire before cutting the piece. Yarn the craft needle to your top piece then, loop the string through the one end of the one that you have a tape. Tie it to secure the loop.
- Take another part of the string and twist it around the loop. You have to do it about a quarter of an inch. From the crest, you have to make a bundle of graduation tassels. You have to cut off the loop on the opposite end to make fringes. After doing this your graduation tassels are done.
- You have to ensure that the length of the loop is smaller for shorter graduation tassels. If you will use your tassels for cards or decorations it is good if you make it a little shorter in length. The same method can be use if you want to create bookmarker graduation tassels.
Graduation tassels can be for decorative purposes aside from its momentous use. For your graduation party, it is nice to create graduation tassels made from different variations of colors. You may also choose to have one color that is according to the color of your actual graduation tassels. You can hang the tassels to the ceiling or at the side of the tables you can also make a dress with hanging tassels for your party dress.
